Challenge

Design writing tends to be illustrated literally, with diagrams, icons, and stock photography of people thinking. The posts deserved something more considered, given that the writing itself was thoughtful and a bit unconventional. The illustration couldn't just decorate the piece; it had to have a point of view.

Solution

Each illustration was treated as its own small editorial exercise. Collage, found imagery, geometry, and colour work together to capture the feeling of the piece rather than directly illustrate its content. The "Design and the Future" visual pulls a vintage portrait into a geometric composition with blueprint grids and clouds, referencing history, vision, and the slightly unknowable nature of what design is actually pointing toward. The approach gives the blog a visual identity that feels consistent without being formulaic.
